Choose where to stay around the island you want to experience.
Koh Chang is a large, mountainous island in Trat Province. Most visitor areas line the west coast, while Bang Bao and the south connect strongly with boat and diving activity.
Different parts of Koh Chang create different stays.
Northern west coast
Areas such as White Sand Beach offer more shops, restaurants and straightforward arrival from the ferry side.
Central west coast
Several beach areas combine accommodation and restaurants with a more spread-out island feel.
Bang Bao and the south
Useful for access to southern boat activity, with a different atmosphere and longer road transfer from the arrival ferry.
Rainforest and island life belong in the same trip.
Koh Chang is not only a dive base. Waterfalls, viewpoints, beaches, fishing communities and quieter eastern areas create useful alternatives around boat days and weather changes.
Three choices connect the island to the underwater day.
Local sites or Koh Rang
The route changes travel time, dive character and sometimes whether snorkelers can join.

Do I need to stay near Bang Bao to dive?
No. Many visitors stay elsewhere, but pickup coverage and early-morning travel depend on the operator and hotel area.
Is Koh Chang open year-round?
The island is visited year-round, although the wetter period can bring more variable sea and road conditions.
Do I need a scooter?
No. Shared transport, taxis and arranged transfers are alternatives. The steep roads make riding a poor choice for inexperienced scooter users.
How many days should I stay?
Allow more than the exact activity days when possible. Travel connections, weather and recovery make a little flexibility valuable.
Send your hotel area as well as your dive dates.
That small detail helps check pickup, departure logistics and whether the activity schedule fits the rest of your stay.
