Notice problems sooner. Respond with a plan.
Rescue Diver shifts your attention beyond your own gauges and skills. You learn to recognise stress, prevent small problems becoming emergencies and respond more effectively when another diver needs help.
Two, three or four days—depending on what you already have.
All options include the Rescue Diver training. EFR adds the required hands-on CPR and first aid qualification; the premium route adds more in-water scenario practice.
Check the training and first aid pieces separately.
Do not assume that an old first aid card or an online-only course meets the requirement. Send the details before course dates are planned.
Prevention first. Then assessment, control and response.
The course uses role-play and repetition. The aim is not to create a superhero; it is to make your decisions calmer, earlier and more structured.
Self-rescue review
Revisit the skills and mindset needed to manage your own problems before helping someone else.
Stress recognition
Notice behaviour and conditions that may signal a tired, anxious or distressed diver.
Responsive divers
Approach, communicate with and assist tired or panicked divers while managing your own safety.
Missing diver response
Organise a search and apply navigation and teamwork under time pressure.
Unresponsive divers
Practise surfacing, towing, rescue breathing, equipment removal and exit techniques.
Emergency management
Form a workable assistance plan, use emergency equipment and coordinate available help.
A practical progression toward complete scenarios.
This four-part view shows the premium route. Rescue-only and three-day combinations compress or omit the EFR day according to the selected package.
eLearning and review
Complete the knowledge work and discuss emergency thinking before practical training.
CPR and first aid
Practise scene assessment, CPR, AED use and care for illness or injury.
Individual exercises
Build the rescue techniques in controlled or suitable open-water conditions.
Put the pieces together
Respond to realistic situations where assessment and prioritisation matter as much as technique.
Most Rescue skills begin before anyone needs rescuing.
Better awareness, clearer buddy communication and earlier decisions are the skills you are most likely to use. The dramatic scenarios matter, but prevention and calm problem-solving are what make the course useful on ordinary dives.

Useful answers before you choose.
Do I need Advanced Open Water first?
PADI Adventure Diver with the Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive is the minimum PADI route. Advanced Open Water also meets it. Equivalent certifications should be checked before booking.
Does an online first aid course count?
Online-only training without hands-on practice does not normally meet the prerequisite. Send the course name, provider and completion date so it can be verified.
Is the course physically difficult?
Some exercises involve towing, surfacing, supporting and exiting with another diver. Technique, teamwork and fitness all matter; mention any limitation or concern before booking.
What if my EFR is older than 24 months?
You can combine the Rescue course with new EFR Primary and Secondary Care training. The combined price and schedule are shown above.
Is Rescue Diver required for Divemaster?
Yes, a qualifying Rescue Diver certification and current CPR/first aid training are part of the Divemaster prerequisites, along with other requirements.
Who teaches the course?
The course is taught by a qualified instructor at the selected dive operator. I answer your questions personally and help check the package, prerequisites and dates before availability is confirmed.
Which Rescue package fits what you already have?
Send your certification, logged dives, last dive, first aid course and preferred dates. Your question is handled personally before the package and availability are confirmed.
